Participating Pass Plus Companies
The Pass Plus course is a scheme ran by the Driving Standards Agency (DSA) that is in place to help improve UK road safety by improving the experience and skills of new drivers who lack experience in alien environments such as driving on motorways that unfortunately is not covered in the UK driving test at this time. As noted in the previous posting, there are some car insurance companies that acknowledge that drivers have took this course and they are happy to pass on savings in the insurance premium provided. These specific companies providing Cheaper Car Insurance have been listed below and this information has been gathered from the Pass Plus Wikipedia page. This is a relatively short list, but it is worth pointing out that some of the big names below act as underwriters for a whole host of other car insurance companies with Aviva and Zurich being two such examples. Here is the list…
· AA Insurance
· Adrian Flux Insurance
· BSM Insurance
· Churchill Insurance
· Co-operative Insurance Society
· Direct Line
· Endsleigh Insurance
· NFU Mutual
· Norwich Union (Aviva)
· Privilege
· Provident Insurance plc
· Quinn Group
· Royal SunAlliance
· Tesco Personal Finance
· Swinton Colonnade
· Zurich Financial Services
The Pass Plus Course
The Pass Plus course is a highly recommended program for new drivers on the roads in the UK, devised by the Driving Standards Agency (DSA). The problems lies that new drivers that have just passed their driving test are at the greatest risk to all road users. The driving test itself lacks critical elements such as driving at night and driving on motorways. Such elements are catered for on the Pass Plus course and this experience helps to aid the new drivers in those risky first few months. There are currently six modules covered and these include: “at night”, “in all weathers, “in town”, “on dual carriageways”, “on motorways” and “on rural roads”. The prices for this course range between £100 and £180 (an Approved Driving Instructor can charge what they like).
The six modules that were noted above develop driver skills quickly, but there is another benefit in taking the Pass Plus course. This will be Cheap Car Insurance with participating insurance companies here in the UK (these will be noted in the next post). The Pass Plus discount stands to range between 20% and 35% and so it is certainly worth the initial price. More than anything, it is the critical experience that helps to improve road safety that is highly notable since new drivers are at the greatest risk, which is why young drivers of course tend to attract astronomical insurance premium quotes. The Pass Plus course does help to reduce these premiums though and there are many other steps that can be taken to minimise insurance costs and each will be touched upon over the coming months.
